Monitoring
The Famos range of Sterility Assurance Products (SAP) consists
of products with chemical indicators used to check the sterilisation
process. The advantage of chemical indicators is that after sterilisation
they are immediately available for readout and recording. The indicators
are available as ISO 11140-1 Class 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 chemical indicators,
tests by independent micro-biological laboratories are available
for our SAP as evidence of conformity to relevant standards.

Helix Test
Bowie-Dick Helix Test for:
1. Bench top steam sterilizers Class B
2. Pre-vacuum hospital steam sterilizers (hollow load only)
Famos has designed a Bowie
Dick Helix Test (PCD) & marked both the device
lid &
the chemical indicators with red
markings so as to avoid any confusion with the
standard Lot/Batch Control PCD or their indicators.
Bench top steam sterilizers, class “B” have been difficult
to test with a Bowie-Dick Test
Pack or various PCDs. Therefor EN 867-Part 5 & ISO 11140 defines
a Helix PCD based
Steam Penetration Test as an alternative for the Bowie-Dick Test.
The Lot/Batch Control test is usually referred to as the HELIX test
and to be used in
each load containing Hollow load type “A” Devices.
A Bowie Dick Helix Test, for hollow loads and bench-top sterilizers
(Class B )

results
